The preliminary investigation of the criminal case on the death of Georgy Kutoyan, former director of the National Security Service, has been suspended in the General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee, pursuant to Article 31, Part 1, Clause 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code: the person, who must be presented as the accused, is not identified.
The Investigative Committee told this to Iravaban.net.
It should be reminded that the body of 38-year-old Georgi Kutoyan with a gunshot wound was found on 17 January last year in an apartment in one of the buildings in Yerevan. In connection with the fact, a criminal case was initiated under Article 110, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, “Causing somebody to commit suicide.”
Kutoyan was appointed head of the National Security Service in February 2016, replacing Gorik Hakobyan, and resigned in 2018 after the revolution initiated by Nikol Pashinyan. Prior to his appointment as Director of the National Security Service, Kutoyan held the position of Deputy Prosecutor General.
