On the protection of the rights of Armenian captives in the European Court

The European Court of Human Rights on 15.12.2020, 16.12.2020, 21.12.2020, 22.12.2020, 30.12.2020 upheld our applications in the case of protection of the rights of military servicemen and civilians captured during the large-scale war against Artsakh initiated by Azerbaijan early in the morning on 27.09.2020, and decided to apply urgent measures to another 23 people. The mentioned persons are: Aram Guyumjyan, Arman Ashpakhyan, Levon Mkrtchyan, Levon Hovhannisyan, Gevorg Gasparyan, Erik Gasparyan, Gevorg Manukyan, Gnel Petrosyan, Levon Tosunyan, Samvel Shukhyan, Grigor Saghatelyan, Haykaz Hovhannisyan, Karen Vardanyan, Edik Harutyunyan, Hrayr, Herabyan, Hrayr Tadevosyan, Andranik Manukyan, Argam Hunanyan, David Voskanyan, Seyran Tamrazyan, Sasun Petrosyan, Gagik Mkrtchyan and Yurik Poghosyan.

Our allegations of the capture or arrest of the above individuals are based on a number of pieces of evidence, including videos.

The European Court has demanded documented information from the Azerbaijani government on the fact of their detention, their location, detention conditions and medical care. The court set deadlines accordingly for providing the required information.

Thus. The applications submitted by us to the European Court protect the rights of 80 military servicemen in captivity and arrested civilians. 18 of them have already returned to homeland.

As a New Year and Christmas word. We express our gratitude to the people who did their duty to the “homeland” and the state, we bow to them for their dids and heroism, courage and endurance, as well as for the hardships and sufferings they suffered.

We will spare no effort to identify all the captives, to return them to their homeland, to restore their rights and those of their families. All of us – wisdom and energy to act.
