The Court of General Jurisdiction of Ararat and Vayots Dzor marzes considered the criminal case against Armen Ye.
The latter was charged in making a call to the Yerevan Department of police by the phone number 1-02 on 3 September 2011 at 17:30 and allegedly knowing that his information was false said that 4 strangers with batons threatened him in Artashat city, stole his cell phone and 5000 AMD and illegally limited his freedom for around 2 hours.
Cognizance not to leave was set as a mean of restraint.
Pursuant to Article 333 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, false crime reporting, if the person consciously provided false information, is punished with a fine in the amount of 200 to 400 minimal salaries, or correctional labor for 1-2 years, or with arrest for the term of 1-3 months, or with imprisonment for the term of up to 2 years.
Note: Everyone charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty by the court verdict lawfully entered into force as prescribed by Criminal Procedure Code.
