The Governor of Syunik Melikset Poghosyan denies the alarm voiced at the rally of the “Fatherland Salvation Movement” initiative that the Chakaten community will be handed over to Azerbaijan. Poghosyan denied this statement in a conversation with “Armenpress”.
“There is no such thing. I deny it 100 percent,” Poghosyan said.
Prosperous Armenia MP Naira Zohrabyan said during a rally in Republic Square that residents of the Chakaten community had written to her. “They say, dear colleagues, tell the participants of the rally that right now the communication operators are removing the antennas from the Chakaten community, they have warned the villagers that the community will become a territory of Azerbaijan, they must hand it over,” Zohrabyan said.
The “Fatherland Salvation Movement” initiative consisting of 16 parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition parties is carrying out protests demanding the resignation of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The joint candidate for the Prime Minister of the initiative is the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Former Minister of Defense Vazgen Manukyan. On 22 December, the movement announced a pan-Armenian strike.
