RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan wrote on his Facebook page:

“Today, together with our staff doctor and lawyers, we obtained new evidence at the National Burn Center on the use of weapons of mass destruction in Artsakh by the Azerbaijani armed forces containing chemical elements (possibly white phosphorus).

We conducted the studies with the help of special devices.

The recorded facts substantiate this assumption.

According to the doctors, the injuries and swellings of the servicemen (especially in the upper extremities) persist for a long time, the wounds caused by the burns are deep in places, with gray edges, sometimes bleeding, difficult to treat. Low levels of calcium and hemoglobin in the blood are observed (hypocalcemia), there is an increase in the size of the liver and spleen (hepatosplenomegaly). According to doctors, if the substances emitted from the used weapons enter the body through the respiratory tract, the internal organs become damaged, which can lead to long-term deterioration of health, even death.

According to doctors, most of the people who received burns of various degrees from the first days of the war were different from the cases they had encountered in their practice before.

During the visit, discussions were held with the medical staff, private conversations with the wounded servicemen, as well as with their family members.

The above-mentioned and all the other facts have received the necessary legal fixation in the staff of the Human Rights Defender, additional professional studies will be carried out and according to the results necessary steps will be taken.
