The search work of killed and the missing servicemen near Shushi has begun

Director of the Artsakh State Emergency Situations Service, Major General Karen Sargsyan received today the representatives of the ICRC mission in Artsakh.

A wide range of issues related to the exchange of bodies of servicemen killed in the current situation and captives were discussed, as well as the work aimed at the operative organization of that process.

On the initiative of Karen Sargsyan, an operative headquarters was set up in the service which coordinates and collects data on servicemen and transmits it to the Red Cross Mission. The international organization is the main link between all parties.

All reports of dead, captured or missing servicemen are passed on to all parties through the ICRC, after which search and rescue operations begin.

Search operations have started near the city of Shushi. At the suggestion of the head of the Emergency Situations Service, an agreement was reached to continue it immediately in other settlements where hostilities took place.

The representatives of the ICRC mission confirmed that the Baku office is interested in exchanging the bodies of servicemen and prisoners as soon as possible.

During the meeting, Karen Sargsyan noted that the rescue workers of Artsakh are ready to fulfill any task, and the service, as an authorized body, will continue active cooperation with all interested structures, including the Russian peacekeeping contingent and the Azerbaijani side.
