Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the joint statement of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on Nagorno Karabakh made it possible to stop the bloodshed and stabilize the situation in the region.

The President met with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov and Minister of Emergency Situations Yevgeny Zinichev on the settlement of humanitarian issues in the NKR.

“I hope we will not use this expression “Nagorno Karabakh conflict”anymore.  I hope we will continue to discuss other issues soon,” he said.

According to Putin, the number of victims on the Azerbaijani-Armenian side, including the civilian population of Karabakh, has exceeded 4,000 as a result of the fighting, more than 8,000 people have been wounded, and there are tens of thousands of refugees.

“The issue of assisting the war-torn population in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone to return to a normal peaceful life is very important,” Putin said.
