Today, on 12 November, the Special Investigation Service issued a statement stating that 10 people were arrested within the framework of a criminal case initiated by the RA Special Investigation Service on the fact of organizing and holding rallies by high-ranking RA officials, as well as other persons in violation of the law.
Gagik Tsarukyan, Gegham Manukyan, Davit Hambardzumyan, Ara Sahakyan, Eduard Sharmazanov were arrested according to the features of Article 225.1, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.
Iravaban.net reports that Article 225-1 of the Criminal Code provides for organizing and holding a rally in violation of the law.
The first part of the article provides: “Intentionally organizing or holding a rally in violation of the law is punishable by a fine of 200,000-300,000 drams, or detention for a maximum of 2 months.”
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.
Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
