The women of Hadrut sent an open letter to Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan.
“Putting aside anger and personal pain, we turn to you as a person chosen by many of us.
Now we demand to answer, being the guarantor of the security of our people, how did you step back from your priority obligation and it is not enough that you gave your consent to the signing of a disgraceful document; moreover, you do not raise the issue related to the status of Artsakh.
How was the logic of compromise replaced by only disgraceful concessions?
How to understand, when our security zone is conceded, you donate our three historical regions to the enemy, because according to you and them they are considered “occupied”, and you do not demand our Hadrut, which is a homeland occupied by the enemy.
We, the women of Hadrut, whose city gates, we do not know why and how they were opened to the enemy, demand to be returned to us. Return our right to live, our homes, our past, our present, our future. And, what is most importantly, DIGNITY. We must return to our homes, because it is our birthplace, we have no opportunity or intention to go anywhere else.
Answer us, Mr. Harutyunyan:
- Why was Hadrut surrendered to the enemy?
- Why was it not required as an exchange, at least, with the 3 districts to which you handed over tied with aribbon?
- What steps should we take to let the world know about this injustice so that we can return to our homes?”
