Misha Melkumyan, who died in Azerbaijani captivity, has died of traumatic brain injury

According to the preliminary conclusion of the forensic medical expert, 84-year-old Misha Melkumyan, who died in captivity in Azerbaijan, died as a result of traumatic brain injury. As reported by “Armenpress”, Rafael Vardanyan, the head of the Department of Criminalistics of the General Department on Special Assignments, Organizational-analytical Activity and Criminalistics of the RA Investigative Committee said during the 5 November press conference.

“According to the preliminary conclusion of the forensic medical expert, the death occurred due to a traumatic brain injury, there is a violent death,” said Vardanyan.

Earlier, the RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan reported that 84-year-old Misha Melkumyan, a civilian captured by the Azerbaijani armed forces, died on the night of 29-30 October.

“Taking into account all the evidence and documents on the inhuman treatment and cruelty of the Azerbaijani armed forces to the Armenian captives, it becomes clear of what reason our compatriot could have died,” Tatoyan wrote.

Azerbaijan announced on 29 October that the Armenian side refused to receive 84-year-old Misha Melkumyan, a civilian. The results of the examination of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia confirmed that this statement does not correspond to reality.

The body of 84-year-old Misha Melkumyan was handed over to the Armenian side with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
