Lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan informs on his Facebook page that his and Suzanna Khcheyan complaint filed against the decision of the arrest of former head of the penitentiary Samvel Mkrtchyan was upheld by the court.

“The court also examined the motion of investigator Chilingaryan to detain Samvel Mkrtchyan, which was also rejected. The investigative body must decide to choose another measure of restraint.

Judge V. Sisakyan considered that the decision to arrest Samvel Mkrtchyan was illegal. According to the court decision, Vahan Hovhannisyan’s and Suzanna Khcheyan’s client should be released immediately.

Notably, Samvel Mkrtchyan was arrested by the SIS yesterday, on 1 September. He is suspected within the framework of Articles 308 and 38-314 of the RA Criminal Code,” Vahan Hovhannisyan says.
