A Flight to Lebanon will be organized on Saturday to provide Assistance

“Lebanon is among Armenia’s closest friends. Our two countries and peoples are connected by many historical and cultural threads. Beirut was the capital of the Armenian Diaspora of the 20th century. For decades, Beirut has been the epicenter of the Diaspora’s religious, political and cultural life.” The Prime Minister said this before the discussion of the agenda issues at the 6 August Government sitting.

On behalf of the RA Government, he expressed condolences to the families of the dead and speedy recovery to the wounded.

The Prime Minister noted that the Republic of Armenia has expressed its readiness to provide assistance.

“At this difficult time, we cannot remain indifferent to the needs of the Lebanese fraternal people, the Armenian community in Beirut. The Republic of Armenia has expressed its readiness to assist in overcoming the hardships following the tragedy that befell that city. We will do our best to support the Lebanese government and the local Armenian community.

The Government of the Republic of Armenia is in constant contact with the community structures of the Government of Lebanon through the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The basic needs are being clarified, within the framework of which the Government of the Republic of Armenia will deliver targeted assistance to Beirut, both at the governmental and community level.

At the same time, for all those who wish to make an individual donation, I would like to inform that the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has opened a special account for money transfers at the Central Bank and an online fundraising platform on the fund’s website (www.himnadram.org).

In conclusion, I would like to note that the Republic of Armenia stands by our compatriot brothers and sisters in Beirut, and every effort will be made to reach them and help them to get out of the difficult situation.

Let me inform that today, we discussed and have decided that the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs will soon leave for Beirut to get acquainted with the needs of our community on the spot and to introduce those to us. Mr. Avinyan, during this time we have already prepared that a plane will leave for Beirut. Has everything already been decided? ” Nikol Pashinyan said.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan stated. “Yes, preparations are already underway, we will complete the program tonight. Several options of the plane are being discussed, I think by the end of the day we will have the full amount and type of aid, the terms. We assume that the flight will take place on Saturday. Several options are being discussed in our office at the moment, I think they will be finalized at the end of the day, and the flight will be organized on Saturday.”
