NA Deputy of the “Bright Armenia” faction of the National Assembly Anna Kostanyan writes on her Facebook page ․
“With the terrible explosion in Beirut, toxic substances may have been released into the air, which could be life-threatening. City officials, such as the Lebanese Ministry of Justice, are urging citizens to leave the city immediately.
At the moment, many people are asking the Armenian Government to allow Armenians living in Beirut to be transferred to Armenia by special flights.
“I think the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the RA Government should organize the transfer of Lebanese-Armenians to Armenia as soon as possible, it is not possible to extend a helping hand only by expressing condolences.”
Notably, on 4 August, a powerful explosion took place near the Lebanese naval base near the port of Beirut.
According to Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab, the cause of the tragedy that took the lives of more than 70 people is the improper storage of 2,759 tons of ammonium nitrate over six years.
It is reported about 78 victims, about 4000 wounded.
