Today, on the instructions of the Human Rights Defender, based on a number of alarms received, the rapid reaction groups visited the Artashat, Masis and Ararat Police Departments in connection with the arrest of protesters in the Khor Virap area. At the same time, a double visit was made to the Masis Police Department in connection with the double administrative arrest of a number of people and the double arrest by the Police. The ombudsman was also approached by the lawyers of some of the detainees.

In the mentioned police departments, the rapid reaction groups of the Defender’s staff had private conversations with a total of 53 people, the documents drawn up about them were studied. During the day, 4 working groups from the Human Rights Defender’s Office worked in connection with the action.

The work of the rapid reaction groups of the Human Rights Defender’s Office was summed up this evening, as a result of which a corresponding letter will be addressed to the Police. The letter will raise issues related to the grounds for administrative detention of persons and to clarify the reasons for depriving them of their personal liberty during their detention, to present their rights to the detainees, to the documents drawn up on those brought to the Police Department, etc.
