Judge of the Constitutional Court Vahe Grigoryan congratulated the journalists on the occasion of the amendments to the Constitution coming into force today.
“I consider that this is a solution to the crisis of the Constitutional Court and I unequivocally welcome this step of the National Assembly. This was a bold step for various reasons, in my opinion, it was a historic step. Its history lies in the fact that, for the first time, the National Assembly, acting on behalf of the Constitution, amended the Constitution and dedicated it to the supreme court instance, the Constitutional Court. It is a primary crisis that needs to be resolved,” Vahe Grigoryan told reporters today, 26 June, in the yard of the Constitutional Court.
He noted that from now on he will take part in the sittings, there are 6 judges in the Constitutional Court and that is a sufficient quorum for the implementation of all the powers of the Constitutional Court provided for in Article 168 of the Constitution.
Vahe Grigoryan did not want to comment on the statements of his former colleagues, the President of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan, members of the Constitutional Court Felix Tokhyan, Hrant Nazaryan and Alvina Gyulumyan.
The judge also said that this is a good opportunity for the Constitutional Court to restore its authority.
