Prosperous Armenia MPs Naira Zohrabyan and Shake Isayan were in the Constitutional Court today, 25 June, early in the morning.
Speaking to reporters, Naira Zohrabyan said that an e-mail signed by 26 deputies was sent to the Constitutional Court yesterday evening to challenge the constitutionality of the law passed by the National Assembly, and today they presented the paper version.
“Edgar Ghazaryan, Chief of Staff of the Constitutional Court, noted that according to the established procedures, the issue will be examined and it will be decided whether it is accepted to procedure or not. The deadline for determining whether our application is accepted or not is a maximum of 15 days,” the MP said.
As for the observation that at least 27 signatures are needed to submit an application, Naira Zohrabyan noted that the legal community is divided on two different opinions on this issue. “Let me not judge whether it is legal or not, and neither the government ministers, who left their jobs, became Einsteins yesterday and did mathematical calculations. The Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court will decide whether to accept to proceedings or not. I will not give another assessment on that issue,” she said.
