The examination of the motion to detain Gagik Tsarukyan, a member of the National Assembly, which is being held at the Shengavit residence of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, was postponed.

Gagik Tsarukyan’s lawyer Yerem Sargsyan told reporters that they had been actively working for several hours. “In fact we all were already tired. The volume is large enough for us to continue. That’s why there was a motion to postpone it, and to continue at 10:30 in the morning.”

The lawyer again stated that the court rejected the motion for self-withdrawal, the decision has not been given yet․ “We shall get acquainted with the decision, when it is given to us. We will express our position on that. We tried to substantiate today, I am sure we have substantiated that this criminal case is being investigated illegally by the National Security Service because the Criminal Procedure Code clearly defines which pre-trial bodies and which criminal cases should investigate.

The article under which the criminal case was initiated in the NSS is a case subject to the SIS. The prosecutor has no right to change the preliminary investigation bodies. It has been illegal since the first moment, therefore all further actions are illegal. This is the first argument we have presented, the court must address its decision. We have presented serious arguments, substantiating to the court that political processes are taking place here, not legal ones,” Yeren Sargsyan said.
