Speaking to reporters in front of the Shengavit residence of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, PAP MP Iveta Tonoyan noted that in any case, the government cannot decide who will be the opposition.
“Yesterday, it was very strange for me that the Prime Minister made a statement regarding the parties, urging the authorities to come up with a legislative initiative that this or that party has something to do with this or that criminal case. Frankly speaking, I did not imagine that we are living in another era of dictatorship or fascism, that it is possible to make such processes against parties or to make a public call to close parties from the parliamentary tribune, from the country’s tribune No. 1. I thought those times were over,” Iveta Tonoyan said.
She also noted that Gagik Tsarukyan’s mandate will not be transferred to anyone, because he continues to be a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the head of the PAP faction.
