The regular sitting of the National Assembly is being held today, on 17 June.
Arman Abovyan, a member of the “Prosperous Armenia” faction, stated that they are boycotting and leaving the sitting hall with the whole faction.
“I regret that the majority, who came to power with the slogans of rediscovering democratic values, respecting the right to speak and express opinion in Armenia, is trying to silence the political opponents. This is not the way. This is the way to the final deadlock for Armenia. I can say one thing to the parliamentary majority, many of whom I know very well. Surely you have been against this illegal vote imposed on many of you, but remember one thing, Armenia does not have the resources to become a dictatorship. We will fight for real, democratic values in Armenia; we will fight for the social, economic, and political rights of every citizen of Armenia. And what happened yesterday, with the direct participation of all of you and the Prosecutor General, in this hall is nothing but political revenge against the political force that disagreed with your opinion, and its leadership,” Arman Abovyan said.
The deputy noted that taking into account the “legal and political outrage” that took place yesterday, the “Prosperous Armenia” faction boycotts the sitting and leaves the session hall.”
