Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan spoke live on Facebook about the educational part of the well-known Lanzarote Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse’.
He noted that 49 out of 50 articles of the Convention have nothing to do with education and are intended to intensify the fight against pedophiles.
“A question arises, why the previous government, joining for 10 years, did not ratify the convention. For one simple reason, because they had people in their ranks who were convicted of pedophilia for certain political motives. Article 1 of the Convention deals with education, and many have argued that this applies to sex education. Now I will read a part and you will understand that all the allegations related to sex education are false. Allegations of textbooks and new programs are false. The Convention calls on us to provide general information to children so that they recognize the violence and are able to defend themselves,” Arayik Harutyunyan said.
