On 18 May, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan took part in the online meeting of the World Economic Forum Europe and Eurasia Regional Group.
During the meeting, they discussed the strategies of governments and businesses to overcome the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, the challenges in global and regional value chains and possible solutions.
In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that all countries are facing the crisis of public health and the coronavirus will be a problem still for a long time. Presenting Armenia’s strategy for overcoming the crisis, he noted that the regime of restrictions has provided an opportunity to gain time and adapt to the situation, to increase the capacity of the healthcare system. Subsequently, the government eased the restrictions after the necessary preparations, while setting mandatory rules and guidelines for the conduct of the economy and society in the new situation.
Tigran Avinyan said that this period of crisis is also a stimulus for major reforms, especially in the field of digitalization. He spoke about the possibilities of digital economy, digital governance and further development of digital society and briefly told about the experience of our country.
