In his concluding speech, Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan responded to MP Vagharshak Hakobyan’s observations, noting ․ “Do not you dare to raise your voice against me next time, do not try to talk to the Ombudsman of Armenia from the government’s position next time and do not try to threaten the Ombudsman of Armenia next time. There are all the mechanisms of legal responsibility, moreover, you don’t even know that the Human Rights Defender does not work according to the charter, I have nothing to discuss with you.”

Notably, today, on 12 May, the annual report on the activities of the Human Rights Defender for 2019 continues to be discussed in the National Assembly. During the exchange of views, MP Vagharshak Hakobyan made a speech, noting that the work of the Human Rights Defender has double standards, as his response is different in different situations.

“I urge you once again not to humiliate your work, to attach importance to the activity you are engaged in, but I want to inform you that you should not be partially involved in any process. This will be clearly assessed politically, and as a member of the National Assembly, in many cases I assess your practical work as satisfactory, but I assess your report as insufficient, as a person who has a Constitutional right to send a human rights defender to the institution I want to inform you that I will go deeper into your work and I will try to help,” the MP said.
