Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan made a post on his Facebook page, which reads:
“Something awkward happened, Ms. Samsonyan:
Today, my former colleague Ani Samsonyan announced from the NA tribune that the Ministry of Education and Science has set a record number of complaints after the police and the judicial system.
Indeed, last year’s report by the Human Rights Defender states that the office received 981 complaints from the police, 800 complaints from the judiciary, and 730 complaints from education, science, culture, sports, and youth sphere.
I recently asked Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan to open the complaint. Of the 730 applications, 74 were oral and 656 were written. And the most important thing in this relation, 557 out of 656 applications, addressed one issue, Avshar School, where the parents, did not agree with the choice of a new principal, each wrote one application on the same issue to make the issue sound better. In other words, the number of complaints in our huge sector is only 174 complaints per year. Unfortunately, for Mrs. Samsonyan, this is a counter-record, because it turns out that out of 16 spheres separated by the Human Rights Defender, the Ministry of Education ranks fourth from the bottom.
In response to the question why I did not speak during the report, I would like to mention that up to 3 ministers speak according to the NA Rules of Procedure. I have a lot to say and have said, that Ms. Samsonyan could come and hear during the report in the committee. It is right to listen to the ministers in the commissions for a quality speech from the tribune.
As for the claim that the school councils are filled with party members, I have no information that any of the My Step party members have become the director as a result of my tenure. Maybe one or two, but not because of being a party member, while during my tenure there were hundreds of competitions.”
