A coronavirus test was carried out at the Vardashen penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia as a result a COVID-19 was diagnosed with one of the Vardashen Penitentiary Department staff. Subsequently, as a result of necessary and operative work, COVID-19 was also identified in 4 employees of the above mentioned department. All 5 persons were isolated in medical facilities. It should also be noted that the abovementioned staff perform their duties outside the penitentiary’s residential area and have no contact with detainees or convicts. The rest of the staff of the Vardashen penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, 28 persons, were also isolated and currently testing is being carried out.

The necessary anti-epidemic and preventive measures continue to be implemented in penitentiary institutions.
