When Reporting Foreign News about Coronavirus, the Name of the Source should be mentioned in the Title: New Amendment

On 24 March, the Government adopted a decision on amending Decision N 298-N of March 16, 2020 on “Declaring a State of Emergency in the Republic of Armenia”.

Paragraphs 23 and 24 of that decision concerning the mass media have been amended to read as follows:

  1. Current and new cases of new coronavirus infection in the Republic of Armenia, health status of persons, sources of infection, scope of other persons in contact with existing or potential infectious persons, number of persons undergoing (infection testing) and isolation, measures undertaken by the health authority and public dissemination, transmission, including publications, information materials, interviews, broadcasts (hereinafter referred to as Report all together) of data relating thereto In the form of their publication on these websites and social networks, the mass media only makes reference to information provided by the Commandant’s Office (hereinafter referred to as official information), fully reflecting official information (without editing).
  2. In the event of the publication of the reports provided for in paragraph 23 of this Decision by the mass media without any official basis, the media shall publish the denial, disclosure or clarification of the information contained in that report provided by the Commandant’s Office within two hours of receiving/publishing it. At the same time, the media must ensure that it is disseminated on the same platforms as those used when publishing the report.

24.1. In the event of complete or partial reproduction of information or analytical material published by foreign mass media on a new type of coronavirus, the media must publish the source of the material in the subject line.

The decision enters into effect since its publication.
