A news outlet recently reported that Tatevik Revazyan, the head of the Civil Aviation Department, had left the country and moved to Denmark due to the spread of coronavirus in Armenia.
The Government Information Center “Information Checking Center” launched by the government reported.
“The Information Checking Center contacted Tatevik Revazyan. She informed that she is now on maternity leave.
“My stay in Denmark has nothing to do with either Coronavirus or my child’s citizenship. Denmark is now much more dangerous in spreading the virus than Armenia, so “fleeing the coronavirus” is nonsense. I left for Denmark to be with my family. The maternity leave was supposed to start on 20 March, but given that the Danish government had decided to close its borders because of the same coronavirus, I decided to leave now, taking a vacation from last year,” the head of the Civil Aviation Department said.
As for the citizenship of the child, Revazyan noted that in the case of childbirth in Armenia, the child can also become a Danish citizen, as the legislation of that country determines the citizenship of the child with the citizenship of his mother.
“My child will have a dual citizenship of Denmark and Armenia, because in 2017, when I moved to Armenia, my first step was to obtain citizenship,” Revazyan said.
The head of the Department of Civil Aviation also informed that she would continue to perform her duties, even during the maternity leave,” the statement reads.
