MP Edmon Marukyan issued a statement saying:

“The World Health Organization has declared a pandemic. Gatherings of up to a hundred people are banned in many European cities. Along with all this, 3 more coronavirus infections have been detected in Armenia. This is a very worrying fact, the danger of which multiplies when we consider the probability of its spread. Of course, we have high hopes that we will avoid that prospect anyway, but at the moment we have what we have and in order to face the challenge properly we need to first assess the situation accurately.

In a dangerous situation, all mass events must be stopped and delayed. The proposal is due to the following essential needs: in the event of a serious threat of pandemic spread, mass action is inadmissible; At this point, it would be appropriate for the political leadership, the opposition, civil society and the general public to focus their attention on the most important threat at the moment – the coronavirus neutralization. This is indeed a national security issue, which implies the need to concentrate all possible resources.
