The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan presided by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, upheld the motion of the defender to release former director of “Yerevan Children’s Home” SNCO Liana Karapetyan on bail. Iravaban.net learned this from Karapetyan’s lawyer Aleksan Khachatryan.
“The defense did not offer a pledge, leaving it to the discretion of the court, and the court set a reasonable amount of pledge – 6 million drams,” he said.
Notably, the accusation against Liana Karapetyan has been toughened. Until recently, she had been charged under Article 167, Article 2, paragraphs 2 and 3 of the RA Criminal Code, “Illegal separation of the child from the parents or substitution of the child by previous agreement of a group of persons; and abusing official position”. Karapetyan is now charged under Article 167 (3) of the RA Criminal Code, namely “Illegal separation of the child from the parents or substitution of the child, committed by an organized group, or negligently caused the child’s death or other grave consequences.” As to the other charge set forth in Article 314 (1), no change has been made in that regard.
