On 25 February, the Constitutional Court ruled unconstitutional the provisions cited in the Ombudsman’s application that violated a number of police officers’ rights during the prosecution.
The Ombudsman’s Office of Public Relations reports.
In particular, the issue is that under the current law criminal proceedings against a police officer the latter are at the same time deprived of the possibility of salary, dismissal on his own initiative and appointment to another position, with the exception of scientific, pedagogical and creative work.
As a result, the police officer, in the absence of proven guilt by a final judicial act, faces the issue of meeting his and his family’s immediate needs.
