Azerbaijan has made false and groundless accusations against Armenia and Artsakh, which are completely denied. The statement came from Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan at the Munich International Conference on Nuclear Security, responding to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s speech.
Mammadyarov stated at the conference that because of the “occupation of 20 percent of its territory”, Azerbaijan is unable to control the territory and it creates favorable conditions for illegal activities, including nuclear terrorism.
According to Mnatsakanyan, the whole territory of Artsakh is under the full and legal control of the Azerbaijan’s authorities, and nothing indicates the opposite. The leadership of Artsakh is always open to international cooperation, and the Azerbaijani accusations can be easily verified and proven.
“I would like to reaffirm Armenia’s firm commitment to our shared goals of nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation and peaceful use of nuclear energy, and wish the conference success,” the Armenian Foreign Minister said.
According to Mnatsakanyan, the Armenian government is continuously working with its international partners at bilateral and multilateral levels to further strengthen its national capabilities in the fight against nuclear smuggling. The second international conference on nuclear safety was held in 2016.
