On 6 February, RA Minister of Defense David Tonoyan received the relatives of սօլդիեռ Vahram Avagyan, who died in the military unit N on January 30.

The Defense Minister once again extended his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and reiterated that within his jurisdiction he would be consistent in revealing all the details of the case. Davit Tonoyan informed Vahram Avagyan’s relatives about the disciplinary measures taken in the Defense Army, including the dismissal of a number of officials. The Head of the Defense Ministry also underlined that within his powers the Ministry of Defense will assist in the objective conduct of the preliminary investigation.

It should be noted that ordinary soldiers in the criminal case being investigated in the First Garrison Investigation Division in connection with the death of Vahram Mkrtich Avagyan, D. M., K․G․ and A․ս․S have been charged under Article 359 3-3 of the RA Criminal Code, namely, breaching the rules of conduct of servicemen in the absence of subordinate relations between them, which negligently caused severe consequences.

Arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint against them.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
