Today, a press conference on the situation, measures to be taken and their coordination with the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) from China was held at the Ministry of Health.
Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan and Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology at the Ministry Liana Torosyan presented the current situation in Armenia and neighboring countries.
Since the virus has already reached Turkey’s border, the question arises whether there are no dangers when shopping from the mentioned country, China or Aliexpress online.
“Human-to-human transmission of the virus has been in China, in countries where there have been cases, there is still no human-to-human transmission. For a virus to survive, reproduction takes 14 days – an organism, a favorable condition for it to be able keep its vitality and to do its job. Plus, it should take 5 days for the clinic to develop. Even if the good or product is infected, are there any favorable conditions for the virus to survive? Of course no. And even during that time of import, cargo transportation, the risk is quite low, let’s be logical as a specialist. It may be a risk, but it is low,” Liana Torosyan said.
It is noteworthy that the import of food from China to Armenia is now prohibited.
