The Head of R. Kocharyan’s Office is announcing New Details

Earlier we reported that police received reports that shots were fired at Erebuni Plaza.

Ashot Aharonyan, head of the police’s public relations department, said the situation was stable and controllable, and acting chief of police, Colonel Arman Sargsyan is negotiating with the man. It is said that as a result of negotiations, the pereson handed over the weapon.

There are no reports of casualties or hostages at this time.

2nd President of the Republic of Armenia Kocharyan’s office head Victor Soghomonyan said he could not say whether the man at Erebuni Plaza had anything to do with them or not.

He said the staff had not been in the office since it was lunch time. After returning, they were unable to enter the office because police had blocked the building.

Soghomonyan said he could not say to what extent the incident was related to or refers to Robert Kocharyan.

“I would prefer to complete the information. If we are related in any way, we will make a statement. There are many establishments in Erebuni Plaza. One of them is Robert Kocharyan’s office. Since I do not have an official opinion, I do not want to comment.  I will make a statement when there is a description of the events and if I can find out how this event relates to us. Again, there are many offices in this building. I am the head of Kocharyan’s office, I do not comment on rumors,” Soghomonyan said.

The situation is calm at the moment, the building is still closed to visitors, and police are on duty.
