Students of the Faculty of Armenian Philology and History of Yerevan State University held a strike for a few days in November 2019, expressing their protest over the Draft Law on Higher Education and Science developed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia.

Lecturers of YSU Faculty of Armenian Philology and Armenian History (November 13) also issued a statement (on November 13) in support of the students.

According to some reports, the salaries of lecturers who participated in the strike were deducted that month. Iravaban.net clarified the information from Yerevan State University.

In response to our written inquiry, Acting Rector of Yerevan State University Gegham Gevorgyan noted: “No deductions were made from the salary calculations of the staff of Yerevan State University for November 2019.”
