On Saturday, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani expressed his condolences for the strike of the Ukrainian aircraft by a mistake, which was as a result of the anticipated US strike, “RIA Novosti” reported.
“Following the death of General Jassem Sulaiman, the Iranian military has been 100 percent ready to defend itself against possible attacks by the United States in the face of threats by the American aggressor regime and intimidation of the Iranian people,” the statement said.
“Unfortunately, the human factor and the misstatement led to a major disaster, which is unfortunate. As President of Iran, I extend my condolences to the families of the victims of this tragic catastrophe,” Rouhani said.
He also added that those responsible for this unforgivable mistake will be held accountable.
He wrote on his Twitter page: “An internal investigation by the Armed Forces found that unfortunately, missiles fired by human error resulted in a terrible disaster for the Ukrainian aircraft and the deaths of 176 innocent people.
The investigation will continue to establish the causes of this great tragedy and the unforgivable error.”
