Ukrainian Plane crashed in Iran was Mistakenly struck by Iran: American media

The Ukrainian plane crashed Wednesday in Tehran, which killed 176 people, was mistakenly shot down by Iran.

This was reported by BBC News, citing the US media.

It is said that the Boeing 737-800, owned by Ukrainian international airlines, was hit by a missile.

The Ukrainian side said earlier that it was conducting a check to determine if the plane’s crash was due to a missile attack, but Iran ruled it out.

Newsweek, citing intelligence sources from the Pentagon and the US and Iraq, reports that the Ukrainian aircraft was hit by a Russian-made Tor missile.

Earlier on 8 January, a Ukrainian plane crashed shortly after the flight near Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport. It had 176 people, all of whom were killed. There are no RA citizens in the list of victims. The Iranian authorities called the cause of the crash a flared engine fire and an unsuccessful attempt by the crew to restore control of the aircraft.
