“A video has been circulated on the Internet where it is alleged that police, in particular criminal investigators, use violence against a person.

In order to verify the authenticity of the publications and hypotheses related to the aforementioned video, on the instruction of the Acting Chief of Police, an inspection immediately began at the Police Department of Internal Security. In addition, the SIS is also being investigated. The public will be given proper information on the examinations.

However, some media outlets, while not waiting for the results of the investigation, by publishing their own amateur analysis, are trying to find a link between the video footage and the current police leadership, allegedly citing the Acting Chief of Police as having served in the General Department of Criminal Investigation on the date indicated by them and committing the said action by the criminal investigators..

This superficial analysis is a consequence of the lack of basic understanding and professional knowledge of the police structure and activities. The Criminal Investigation Service employs a large number of officers, most of them in provincial police departments and territorial units. We should note that the General Department of Criminal Investigation is in charge of coordinating this work. Consequently, the management and staff of the above department cannot in practice be aware of the day-to-day activities of the territorial authorities and especially in all offices.”
