In the National Assembly, the deputies ask questions to the candidates to members of the Corruption Prevention Committee.
Independent MP Arman Babajanyan asked a question to Narek Hambardzumyan, candidate nominated by the Prosperous Armenia faction: “Imagine a situation in which the committee is discussing issues related to Nikol Pashinyan, Ararat Mirzoyan, Gagik Tsarukyan, Edmon Marukyan and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan. What guarantees do you see that the committee members, will stay away from narrow political and corporate interests when discussing and proposing solutions, and the committee will not be constrained in making objective and impartial decision?”
Narek Hambardzumyan responded on his behalf, noting: “I have worked for 9 years in a position that has required me to be objective. For me, one of the fundamental principles has been the principle of equality before the law for all. If appointed to this position, I will continue to work in accordance with the same principles. Many apologies, to me, the names of specific persons, as you mentioned, of high-ranking officials, cannot be of absolute importance. I will only do and obey the law, being objective and impartial.”
