Vazgen Manukyan, Chairman of the Public Council, will resign in two cases: if the Prime Minister invites him to say that they cannot work together or if he decides to start a political struggle. Vazgen Manukyan said this on his official website.
“The Prime Minister nominates the Chairman of the Public Council, which is approved by the government. It is natural that if the Prime Minister invites me and says that we cannot work together for some reason, I will not hesitate for a moment and leave the Public Council. I also said that I might initiate a meeting with the Prime Minister and discuss the issue myself, but I think it would be more natural if the Prime Minister initiated it,” Vazgen Manukyan said.
Referring to the termination of his tenure, Manukyan noted that technically it could be done after April 4 of next year.
“When I see that in this politicized atmosphere the consultations do not “work” and only the political struggle remains, then I will leave the Public Council and tell my point of view through the political struggle,” Manukyan said, adding that at the forthcoming session of the Public Council the further work will be discussed.
Vazgen Manukyan was first appointed to the post of the Chairman of Public Council on 29 May, 2009 by the order of RA President Serzh Sargsyan. He was last re-appointed on 4 April, 2019 by Nikol Pashinyan’s order.
