The Electoral Commission for the Representation of the members and alternate members of Civil Society Group of the Multi-Stakeholder Group of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative of the Republic of Armenia, had presented (published) the list of CSO representatives nominated by the CSOs and self-nominated alternate members.
CSOs and foundations registered in the Republic of Armenia that have publicly and regularly expressed a position on other EITI related mining policy issues in the last 3 years could be nominated as CSO candidates.
The CSG is formed through the election of CSG candidates’ representatives through secret ballot.
On October 1, the CSG representatives were elected.
Composition of candidates running for elections:
- “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO – Ms Gohar Ghazinyan, candidate for a member or alternate member,
- “Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center” NGO – Ms Sona Ayvazyan, candidate for a member or alternative member,
- “Forests of Armenia” Environmental NGO – Ms Nazeli Vardanyan , candidate for a member or alternative member,
- “EcoLur Informational” NGO – Ms Victoria Burnazyan, candidate for alternate member
Regional Non-Governmental Organization
- “Community Mobilization and Support Center’ NGO – Mr. Oleg Dulgaryan, candidate for a member or alternate member.
Scientific community
- Chair of Regional Geology and Mineral Exploration of the YSU – Mr. Harutyun Movsisyan, , candidate for a member or alternate member.
Gohar Ghazinyan, representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, received the highest number of votes (3), Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center representative Sona Ayvazyan received 2 votes, and all other candidates received one vote each.
It should be noted that the CSG should consist of 5 members and a maximum of the same number of alternate members. All candidates were selected to represent the Civil Society Group (CSG) of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).
