The International Union for Conservation of Nature is the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organization. It was founded in 1948 and currently has more than 1,200 member organizations including 200 government and 900 non-government organizations. The main aim of this organization is to provide analytical information for maintenance of biodiversity.
According to the RA Criminal Code of mass destruction of flora or fauna, poisoning the environment, the soils or water resources, as well as implementation of other actions causing an ecological catastrophe is punished with imprisonment for the term of 10 to 15 years.
Similar crime is called Ecocide. It presents public danger, causes gross environmental injuries and puts the human life in danger.
