On May 2, Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan will present to the attention of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs the report on the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office in 2018.

Iravaban.net learned from the Prosecutor’s Office that in 2018, large scale work has been done by investigators of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia related to the criminal case # 62202608, examined in connection with the events that took place in Yerevan from 1 March to 2 March.

In particular, on 3 July, 2018, the above mentioned case was joined to the criminal case initiated against the executive body of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia in the period of 23 February to 2 March, with prior agreement with other persons on the fact of overthrowing the constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia under Article 300.1 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.

During the preliminary investigation, pursuant to Article 300.1 (1) of the RA Criminal Code, criminal prosecution was instituted against RA President Robert Kocharian, RA Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan, Chief of the General Staff of the RA Ministry of Defense Seyran Ohanyan and RA Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Khachaturov. The Chief of Staff of the RA President Armen Gevorgyan was charged with Article 38-300.1, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

More than 1,000 people were interrogated as witnesses to investigate the objective truth of the case, to identify the guilty persons and to evaluate their actions. Instructions on Investigative measures were given to the investigative bodies, RA Police, RA Police and NSS corresponding services 23 missions were commissioned, more than 146 pieces of firearms and a large quantity of ammunition were submitted for examination, over 40 searches have been made, 85 seizures have been made from citizens and government agencies.
