On January 7, Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia Valery Osipyan had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Colonel-General Kalmukhanbet Kassymov.
The partners discussed the details of the scuffle and murder in the Kazakhstani city of Karaganda on January 1. There are Armenians among the suspects who are currently wanted.
Kalmukhanbet Kassymov assured his Armenian counterpart that a fair investigation will be held and all actions within it will be carried out in accordance with the law.
The sides also spoke about demonstrations in the city of Karagandya on January 6, which was also spread in the international news.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan said during the telephone conversation that the protests did not have an inter-ethnic nature, were not large and were under the control of law enforcement authorities. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan controls the situation.
During the telephone conversation the Armenian and Kazakh counterparts discussed issues related to cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
