Armen Gevorgyan has been charged under the March 1 Case, he is ready to Oppose: Lawyer

The court has interrupted consideration of the motion on detention of the former RA Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, as the defense party demanded factual data from the body conducting the proceedings, which required a study to present their objections to the petition. Today, Armen Gevorgyan was present at the session as well.

Eric Alexanyan, his lawyer, told this to Iravaban.net.

“He has not given testimony related to the criminal case as such, and has expressed his position on the charge. He has not provided details on the facts of the case either. He completely does not admit the accusation,” he said.

As we have already informed, Armen Gevorgyan’s accusation has been extended; accusation under a new article has been added. “Yesterday A new accusation has been filed related to the attempt to overthrow the constitutional order with accomplices, (Part 1 of Article 38-300.1 of the Criminal Code), particularly taking bribes by a state official in in large amount (Article 311, Part 4 (3) of the Criminal Code), and legitimizing (legalizing) illegally obtained income that ise money laundering (Article 190, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code).

In response to our question whether all the accusations were being examined in one proceeding, the lawyer answered positively. Armen Gevorgyan was charged under the March 1 case as well.

“In no way suspecting the impartiality and fairness of the court, we expect the court to make a fair judicial act. Armen Gevorgyan is ready to  oppose and is confident not only for his innocence, but also that he has nothing to do with those criminal actions. I do not think there is any need to worry at all,” Erik Aleksanyan said.

It should be noted that the session continues, the defense side will present its objections on the petition submitted.
