A number of criminal cases related to officials that are being investigated in the Special Investigation Service are still in the preliminary stage. The matter concerns specifically to the cases of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, ex-President Serzh Sargsyan’s brother and his children, and the former chief of the bodyguard.

There are no materials worth reporting these to the public yet. Spokesperson for the Special Investigation Service Marina Ohanjanyan told Iravaban.net today, on October 30.

Notably, Hovik Abrahamyan was charged under the criminal case initiated based on the report of  the director of “Avazahatik” (grain of sand) LLC. Hovik Abrahamyan was charged under Part 1 of Article 309 (Exceeding official authorities), and Article 310 (Illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity). Signature not to leave was chosen as a measure of restraint against him.

Vachagan Ghazaryan, the head of the bodyguard of the 3rd President of the RA Serzh Sargsyan is accused of illicit enrichment, as well as for providing false information and on concealing data subject to declarations provided for by the RA Law on Public Service. He was detained as a preventive measure, and after staying in detention for nearly a month, he was released on bail for 1 billion AMD.

The Special Investigation Service reports that Vachagan Ghazaryan’s and his family’s property and funds are banned.

Serzh Sargsyan’s brother, Lyova Sargsyan, his son and daughter are accused of illicit enrichment and hiding property.

Signature not to leave has been chosen as a measure of restraint against Ani and Narek Sargsyan.

On July 6, the SIS investigator filed a motion to the court for choosing arrest as a measure for Lyova Sargsyan. The court met the motion on the same day. Lyova Sargsyan is in search.

According to the SIS, this case is in the preliminary stage as well.
