At present, the petition on detention of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is being examined at the Shengavit residence of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.
“I ask the court to show human attitude to us,” said Ruben Sahakyan, one of his lawyers during the interview with journalists.
He noted that he had left the Special Investigation Service at about 18:00. “They gave me 136 pages, I have taken it home, hoping to rest a little, because he is not detained, Robert Kocharyan is not banned. Further I shall get acquainted with the case, prepare, so that I can come to express my opinion here (in court): And suddenly, at 21:35, I get a notice that I should be present at the court session at 22:00,” he said.
The lawyer notes that the case has been brought to court where it turned out that another 15 pages had been added to the case and there was no time to get acquainted with it. “Isn’t this a hastiness by the judge? Shall I be able to read this now? I cannot. Let them arrest Robert Kocharyan, some of the public will be glad,” he said, noting that he does not have information whether Robert Kocharyan will appear in court or not. According to him, there are no grounds for criminal prosecution.
He noted that if they manage, they will hold a press conference on July 27.
