The RA National Assembly discussed today the petitions of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia to approve instituting criminal prosecution and to deprive from liberty the deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Manvel Grigoryan. The Parliament has given its consent to the two motions by closed secret ballot.
The Public Relations Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office reports.
Based on the NA decisions, the RA Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan has instructed the preliminary investigation body to initiating criminal proceedings against Manvel Grigoryan, who has been charged with involvement in the criminal case as a defendant, as well as the arrest of Manvel Grigoryan within the scope of three criminal cases investigated by the RA Special Investigation Service as a pretrial measure, to submit a petition to the Yerevan Court of First Instance.
It should be reminded that a sufficient combination of evidence obtained in the scope of the above-mentioned criminal cases provides grounds for accusing the deputy of the RA National Assembly, Manvel Grigoryan, under the provisions of Article 235, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code for illegal acquisition of ammunition with prior agreement with other persons, Article 179, part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, for stealing someone else’s property entrusted to him in a particularly large amount by the prior consent of a group of persons.
Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgement that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
