Today, during the government session, Minister – Chief of the RA Government Staff David Harutyunyan said, that on the instructions of the RA Prime Minister, the data on the amount of funds was allocated from the state budget to the applicants based on the ECHR decisions against Armenia was prepared.
Thus, in 2014 the European Court of Human Rights passed 4 verdicts against Armenia, on the basis of which a total of 166 thousand EUR was paid as compensation, in 2015, 8 verdicts, on the basis of which 86 thousand EUR was compensated, and in 2016 again 8 verdicts with 83 thousand EUR compensation.
In response to Prime Minister’s question on the reason of judgments against the Republic of Armenia, Davit Harutyunyan answered: “The reasons, I think are clear, Mr. Prime Minister, there are mistakes in our judicial system, mistakes in judicial systems can be found in all countries. But when opportunities to correct the mistakes in the country’s judicial systems are expired, people turn to the European Court of Human Rights.’
