Chairman of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation, David Avetisyan becomes 65 today. Article 14 (2) of the Judicial Code provides: “A judge shall serve in office until reaching age 65. The powers of a judge whose term of office has expired shall terminate on the day following the judge’s reaching age 65.”
Below is his the biography.
David Avetisyan was born in 1951 in Zovuni village, Aparan region.
1978 – graduated from the Faculty of Law, YSU.
1985 -1989 – distance-learning student at the Faculty of Law of Tashkent University.
1974 – 1978 – first secretary of Komsomol Party of Nairi Region.
1980 -1982 – Department Head of Nairi regional department of the Communist Party of Armenia.
1982 -1991- Judge at the Public Court of NAiri Region.
1991 – 1998 – Member of the RA Supreme Court 1998.
1998 -2007- Judge at the Criminal Chamber of the RA Court of Cassation.
Since 1 January, 2008 Chair at the Criminal Chamber of the RA Court of Cassation.
1998 – 2005- Member of the Council of Justice.
2003 – 2008 – Vice-president at the Association of Judges of RA.
David Avetisyan has PHD degree and is an associate professor.
Author of 5 monographs and 12 scientific articles.
The RA President awarded David Avetisyan the title of Honored Lawyer.
On 29 June 2013, the President awarded Davit Avetisyan the medal of “Mkhitar Gosh”.
