Arayik Papikyan, the attorney of the injured “Sasna Tsrer” member Ashot Petrosyan, is still attempting to see his defendant, to familiarize with the criminal case. However, he is constantly being stopped. “Since midday, my colleague and I have been illegally prevented from getting involved in the case, a public defender has been called while we had all the documents to get involved. We have applied to the Human Rights Defender twice,” noted the attorney during his interview to Iravaban.net.
Today the media have spread information on Ashot Petrosyan’s arrest. “I cannot make an official announcement that he has been detained because I haven’t seen the writ. I don’t understand why they adopted such a strategy, if there was an opportunity to involve a public defender then why didn’t they say anything when the other attorney and I were there some hours ago and informed everyone that we wanted to be involved? We have been near the hospital room but we didn’t receive any reaction from law enforcement officers,” noted the attorney, adding that the hospital where the injured had been taken to wasn’t against the meetings between the injured and the attorney or his relatives, however the security guards didn’t let them in.
Mr. Papikyan also said that he had learned minutes ago that the hospital was no longer under the control of the Police and supposed that Ashot Petrosyan had been taken to another hospital. However, he didn’t know which one exactly as no one told him anything.
